Andrea Graff is all about that special 'find'

I was brought up in a home where my Mom and Dad collected art, and I started working in my father’s furniture store from the age of 12. So I learnt from a young age to appreciate the elements that contribute to making a beautiful home. I’ve also always been around friends who were decorators, designers, architects, and art dealers, so it was natural progression for me.

I don’t have a specific style. For me it’s always about the find - finding pieces that have provenance, and sourcing distinctive items from a variety of different places. It’s about creating a space where nothing feels matched, but that has a fine balance.

We are currently working on the interior design of a house in Accra, Ghana. We have to take the local climate and aesthetic into consideration, whilst balancing the clients’ passion for European design and their desire for a comfortable family home.

I suggest starting their own scrapbook, and educating themselves on what they love and drawn to. This will help build up their visual literacy and help them make more informed decisions.

I don’t specifically have one favourite piece. I love everything.

I love a layered home, but it can very easily become cluttered if one is not careful. The key thing to remember is: don’t hoard, edit, give things away to charity, and make sure every item in your house has a home.

I love the new industrial inspired collection. The Darsten and Heather bookshelves in particular, as they are great pieces on which to display treasured items and beautiful objects.
