General Care for Oak Wood:

  1. Regular Cleaning: Dust the table regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap and water, then dry immediately with a clean cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the wood finish.
  2. Protection: Use coasters, placemats, and tablecloths to protect the table surface from spills, hot dishes, and scratches. If a spill occurs, clean it immediately to prevent stains.
  3. Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the wood to fade or change colour. Position your table away from direct sunlight or use curtains and blinds to minimize exposure.
  4. Humidity and Temperature: Keep the table in a stable environment with moderate humidity and temperature levels. Avoid placing it near heat sources, such as heaters or fireplaces, to prevent the wood from drying out or warping.
  5. Periodic Maintenance: Reapply a suitable wood polish or oil periodically to maintain the wood's luster and protect its surface. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the type of finish used on your table.

Handling the Extension Mechanism:

  • Do Not Move the Table While Extended: Always return the table to its original, smaller size before moving it. Moving the table while extended can put undue stress on the extension mechanism and may cause damage.
  • Do Not Lift the Table by the Extended Parts: Never lift or support the table using the extended parts or mechanisms. This can lead to damage or misalignment of the extension components.
  • Use the Extension Lock: When the butterfly extension is closed, engage the extension lock to keep the top leaves securely together and prevent them from moving.
  • Use the Runner Lock When Extended: When the butterfly extension is open, use the runner lock to keep the top from moving. This ensures stability and prevents accidental shifts during use.
  • Opening the Extension: Stand close to the butterfly pipe when opening the extension. This position provides better control and reduces the risk of damaging the extension mechanism.
